Mario Batali is heading west! For fans of the orange-locked “Iron Chef” regular, this is great news. In addition to running several ritzy and famous New York City restaurants, Mario fans can soon drop in to new locations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, although with a chef with as broad a palette as Mario Batali at the helm, it’s anyone’s guess what the menu will look like. Mario Batali is the latest chef to reach superstardom thanks to the Food Network. And like many of his fellow celebrity chefs, he has taken the opportunity to share cookbooks and quality cookware with his audiences.

Mario Batali’s father is also a restaurant owner, but Mario himself went through an extensive liberal arts education before turning to his passion for cooking. Few students are so lucky in their choice of study topics—Mario studied economics and the theatre at Rutgers. With his solid grounding in presentation skills and business principles, he then took off across Europe as an apprentice chef in kitchens everywhere from London to Italy. After years of this service Batali was recognized as a talented and creative Italian chef.

His audience-friendly demeanor soon made him a Food Network favorite, and alongside a growing stable of potent chefs, Mario now hosts several cooking shows in addition to the responsibility of making sure his many restaurants keep performing to his exacting standards. His cooking style draws primarily on Italian and Mediterranean flavors, but his recently released cookbook “Mario Tailgates NASCAR Style” may show fans a new side to the star—as well as some delicious recipes.

Mario Batali is married with two children, and is based out of New York. In addition to his bright orange hair, Mario Batali is known for wearing orange clogs. Whether these are a good luck charm, fashion statement or personal preference, fans just want Mario to comfortable and serving up delicious food.
