Celine Dion, born March 30, 1968, hails from Quebec and has touched millions of fans’ lives with her beautiful voice and emotionally powerful music. A small town girl, Celine Dion was raised alongside lots of siblings by parents who owned a bar—where she made her singing debut at age five. In addition to her vocal talents, Celine Dion demonstrated an early aptitude for songwriting.

Celine Dion’s first original recording was made when she was twelve. That combined with a personal performance for artist manager Rene Angelil was enough to set her on the road to stardom. Angelil was quite impressed with the young artist and demonstrated unusual commitment to his new client—going as far as to stake his personal finances on her future success. His gambit paid off, and by the time the two were romantically linked when Celine Dion was age 20, she was an international star.

Sporting a massive vocal range, Celine Dion has helped push the genre of vocal power pop commonly heard in hair salons into a cottage industry with vitality on the Billboard charts. The sheer emotional sweep of her music is near operatic, so it should come as no surprise that many of her biggest crossover hits have come from film soundtracks. Her appearance on the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack scored her major awards, most notably an Oscarâ and a Grammyâ—and she’d be at it again on the ubiquitous “My Heart Will Go On” from the Titanic soundtrack.

A notorious workaholic, more recent years have seen Celine Dion turning her focus towards her family life. After taking time off to give birth to a child, Celine Dion returned to the spotlight with a groundbreaking residence in Las Vegas that would see the artist appearing in a specially built venue five nights a week over three years, following which her pace has slowed considerably.
